Lesley Arthur – Project Manager
Since graduating from Glasgow School Of Art with B.A hons Fine Art in 1993 work has always been about fostering creative approaches to support personal and social development, making a difference though the arts, and contributing to the health & wellbeing of communities. As a practicing artist I have aimed to inspire a diverse range of adults and children in a therapeutic capacity and educational capacity to share their experiences and tackle oppression and discrimination, but most of all to have fun. I have worked within a ‘member-led’ ethos as Project Manager of Reachout With Arts In Mind since Nov 2002. As Project Manager I aim to use the creative arts as a vehicle to promote social change to make a difference where people are disadvantaged or marginalised by mental ill health, and as such supported Reachout to generate an income to enable more people experiencing mental illness to access the expressive arts, re-locate to more bespoke premises and enable disabled people to access the service through our outreach project. I’d like to thank staff, volunteers and members for their continued support during our exciting period of change which has taken place over the last 3 years and look forward to an new era of developing social enterprise opportunities through ‘Art’n’Mind’ Social Enterprise 2011 onwards as Reachout becomes an incorporated company limited by guarantee. Lynda Smith – Admin Support Worker
Hi Everyone, I’m Lynda and I’m the Admin Support Worker for Reachout with Arts in Mind. I started working as Reachout Admin Support Worker in July 2002 and have since watched the project and members grow. The role of Admin Support Worker takes on a range of diverse responsibilities in the running of the organization from being the first contact for visitors and new members, to monitoring activities within the project. My role also includes supporting everyone who is involved in Reachout, whether that is members, management committee, volunteers, staff or visitors. I really enjoy working at Reachout and enjoy meeting everyone who has visited the project and look forward to welcoming everyone to our new premises.
Christopher Hall – Financial Officer
I started working with Reachout in November 2008, I am currently studying a BS Hons in Economics and Finance and am doing the accounts at reachout to compensate my degree. After starting in Reachout I quickly designed a simple but effective bespoke accounting system and method to track and record everything effectively. I have always been passionate about mental health as my parents and other family members have worked in mental health for many years. The part I play in helping the members of Reachout is more indirect however, I feel that my contribution has greatly assisted the project maintain a consistent approach to finance allowing easier expansion of the project creating an enhanced environment for everyone. As book keeper I am responsible for managing our money and budgets and making sure we are financially stable. The next couple of years in Reachout are going to be very interesting seeing the opening of our new social enterprise company which i will take great interest in financially managing.
Kristiane Rodgerson – Project Worker
Hi, I am Kristiane and I am a project worker with Reachout. I have been involved with Reachout since January 2009. Before coming to Reachout, I was a support worker with another organisation, I first came to Reachout to learn about Mental Health as part of a course I was studying and loved it so much, I stayed on as a volunteer. Since coming to Reachout, I have supported members to set up the “Art in Mind” exhibitions group. The group enables members to exhibit their work, within and out with the community, in the short time the group has been up and running we have had several fantastic and successful exhibitions. We have been lucky enough to get support through BRAG’s Motivate to Innovate programme to fund a small number of Sessional hours, meaning that I am now working for Reachout to develop the exhibitions. As well as supporting members, it is my role to gather and log all the artwork, as well as organising the safe transportation to and from various venues. I also hang the exhibitions and make sure all the work is properly labelled and priced. It is also my role to liaise with local galleries and exhibition spaces to plan exhibitions and events. Anyone wishing to exhibit or wishing to host an exhibition please get in touch. Back to top
